Early History!!!

The 1st known inhabitants were Paleo-Indians in the Tennessee Basin about 12,000 years ago. Then, expeditions to Tennessee were led by three Spanish Explorers. Their names were Hernando de Soto in 1540, Tristen de Luna in 1559, and Jaun Pardo in 1567. Jaun record the Indian village the name "Tanasi" which then people thought they said "Tansqui". Soon, that name evolved to the state name. At that time, Tennessee was inhabited by more tribes. Their names were the Mushcogee and Yuchi people. Then, more European Settlers came so the Cherokee moved to Virginia and tribes were forced to move north or south. The first British settlement that happened was by Fort Loudoun. In the 1760s, long hunters from Virginia came to see East and Middle Tennessee. Then, the Revolutionary War came in and Fort Watauga was attacked in 1776. Eight counties of the western part of North Carolina broke off the state in the late 1800s. Then Tennessee tried to become part of the union but failed so in the 1900s it re-joined North Carolina. Soon, it joined the union and became its own state.
